Tariff Survivors: Funds with YTD performance > 2% during the Trump Tariffs of 2025

Greetings!
The main purpose of this page is to share investment research findings. Since 1996 I've done so annually, after Q1 of each year, to ground my assumptions about long term return on investment when I write Lifetime Savings Plans, and to define excellence. This year's research represents about 22 hours of work done over the course of six days.
(If you're curious how I know that, check out the Time Management page.)
The fruits of this research have mightily benefited my family and me, and I hope they do the same for you and yours. I share them freely with best wishes.
In general, markets and indices were negatively affected by extraordinary trade wars and tariffs. Year to date returns were disappointing. However, there were exceptions which, thanks to databasey goodness, I was able to pinpoint in the above "2025 Tariff Survivors" report.
Interestingly, as you can see, these survivors are in a broad variety of economic sectors, with standouts in energy and precious metals.
I believe the present tariff turmoil is temporary; and when it stabilizes, we will all need to be watchful for ways to position ourselves favorably. There will be market volatility and bounces, and having current intel like what's in this report can help cope, adapt, and prevail.
I encourage you to follow the links and invest some time studying the graphs and reports. If they don't seem self explanatory, feel free to reach out for assistance.
After thirty years of practice, I will share how I've learned to accept everyone's humanity, including my own. For example when I was young and naïve, I took everything and everyone at face value, and presumed rationality. I expected people to set goals and stick to them.
Thirty years later, I've experienced enough twists, turns, and pivots to understand that everyone is on a journey and has the prerogative to course-correct now and then; or, as we say in the Marines, to adapt and overcome . . . which is why having an economic map maker and navigator on your team can be pretty helpful.
I'm tempted to ramble on this page, but I'm going to keep it short. For more, please see recent news and book reviews.
Thanks for your attention, and please accept my best wishes for a happy and prosperous future!
