Previewing 2016 & Beyond
To prepare to write this page, I researched common New Year's Resolutions, and found a variety of lists like the one in the top graphic. A lot of them included resolutions like "lose weight" or "stop drinking."
But like getting out of debt, I realized those are negative goals. They're about what you want to eliminate, or stop. Maybe one reason people joke about New Year's Resolutions is that so many of them are negative.
I wondered how they could be flipped into positive, one-word resolutions that could be joyfully anticipated. What is the positive motive underlying them? Joking aside, what if these things really were eliminated? What would remain?
And I realized that, for example, the positive motive underlying exercise, weight loss, and stopping smoking & drinking is health. Asking this question about all the resolutions I noticed, I made this list of common, positive resolutions, with links to resources I offer that help achieve them:
Very quickly, I saw how the exercise became ridiculous because the argument could be made that, in one way or another almost every page on this site supports every resolution. Seeing how there would be very few blank spaces in the matrix, making it useless, I opted against it and made the above list of links instead.
But the exercise was instructive. It showed me that my purpose is, has always been, and will always be to help people achieve their real, positive resolutions, each and every year.
I'm here for you. I hope you'll get positive and definite, identify your resolutions, and accept my help achieving them.
Wishing you an awesome 2016 and beyond,
