I see a world . . .
. . . where all nations are prosperous and debt-free. Consequently, there are no bond markets because nobody borrows. Former bond investors now invest elsewhere as owners, not lenders, in stable, profitable, honestly- and well-managed enterprises. Because there's no demand for loans, banks are savings institutions.
. . . where living beneath one's means is an established, settled consensus that is practiced at all levels of society, from the smallest household to the largest government. Surpluses abound; deficits are unthinkable; industry and thrift are valued and practiced universally. Indolence and dissipation are not scorned because they do not exist, having been resolved long ago through experiential, sincere discourse.
. . . where everyone knows through direct personal experience what harmony and synergy are. They know how to sing, harmoniously, in an ensemble, and prefer it to singing solo because of the synergy they enjoy. Cooperation is preferred to self-aggrandizement. Humility is embraced as a virtue.
. . . where, with this shared understanding of harmony, citizens embrace the metaphor and practice it in their daily lives in work, play, and love.
. . . where unity exists and is celebrated; not a false, imposed, top-down, go-along-to-get-along unity, but authentic, bottom-up, grass-roots, heartfelt, voluntarily chosen, real unity. It is evident in resolution of religious, political, moral, and ethical differences; in intact, happy families; and in a settled, shared, and clearly established consensus about what is good, beautiful, and true. Sports are understood not as ends, but as means of teaching and exemplifying this unity.
. . . where everyone knows what a blessing is, how it works, and how to do it. Cursing and snarkiness have been forgotten; nobody even knows how to be that way any more. It's off their radar.
. . . where men are happy to be men, women are happy to be women, men and women understand each other and make the best of their respective traits, and as a result, children thrive.
. . . where the debate about government's optimal size is done: both finished, and executed.
. . . where people don't wonder any more what love is; they know, and revel in it.
. . . where there are no more "elephants in the room." Honesty, sincerity, and truth are so habitual and ingrained that nobody knows how to be any other way.
. . . where post-modernism is post-modern.
. . . where instead of saying "there is no truth", people now say "there is no nihilism."
